It feels like I have this compulsive need to ruin any close relationship in my life. Most people around me are just acquaintances. I love my family, but I don’t socialize with them much. Every romantic relationship I’ve had, I’ve ended up sabotaging within days or weeks. My longest relationship was only 2-3 months, and that was years ago.

Same goes for friendships—anytime I start to get close to someone, I find ways to push them away.

Is there a name for this? Has anyone else been through something similar?

Hey man, I get it. A lot of us end up pushing people away out of fear of getting hurt—it’s a kind of self-sabotage. I’ve been there too. Talking to someone (like a therapist) really helped me understand why I do it and start changing the pattern. You’re not alone, and it can get better with some work. Just take it one step at a time.

Sounds like self-sabotage, honestly. You get close, freak out, and push them away—super common, been there too.

You’re not alone. Recognizing it is huge. Maybe talk to someone, it really helps. You got this. 💛
