Honestly… It Depends on the Day**
People love asking that classic conversation starter:
“So, what are your top three pet peeves?”
And every time, I freeze.
Not because I’m shy — but because my list changes more often than the weather forecast. One day I’m annoyed at slow walkers, the next day slow walkers don’t bother me at all… unless I’m hungry. Then everyone becomes a threat.
The truth is, my pet peeves are like a rotating playlist. They shuffle depending on my mood, my energy, and whether or not I’ve eaten breakfast.
But here’s the weird part:
The things I “hate” aren’t always consistent either. Sometimes they even cancel themselves out.
Take fashion, for example.
There are outfits that make me think,
“Wow, who let you leave the house like that?”
But then a different person wears the exact same style, and suddenly it becomes “high fashion,” “effortlessly stylish,” and “oh my god where did you buy that?”
Same outfit.
Different reaction.
Apparently, my pet peeves have a bias towards good-looking people. Who knew?
Or rich people.
It’s easy to roll your eyes and say,
“Ugh, must be nice to live that luxury life.”
But then you actually meet one who’s polite, well-spoken, and surprisingly warm — and suddenly you find yourself thinking:
“Wait… why am I low-key impressed right now?”
It’s like your brain goes from annoyance mode to respect mode in three seconds.
And then there are ‘street tough guys.’
You know, the ones who always look like they’re one bad mood away from starring in a crime documentary.
Normally you’d think,
“I do NOT want to deal with that guy.”
But get to know him — maybe you’ve gone through something together, maybe you’ve shared a drink — and suddenly he’s calling you “bro,” remembering your birthday, and helping you with problems your own family wouldn’t touch.
Life’s ironic like that.
So what are my top three pet peeves?
Honestly… everything.
And also nothing.
It really depends.
Every annoying thing in the world has a second side — a moment where the person, the situation, or the context flips, and suddenly you see something you didn’t expect.
That’s the magic of being human.
We’re inconsistent.
Emotional.
Contradictory.
And honestly? That’s what makes life interesting.
So next time someone asks me for my top three pet peeves, maybe I’ll just say:
“It depends who’s doing it.”
